Having had an Italian recipe blog online for almost 10 years now, has meant that both I personally, and Italian Food Forever have gone through a number of changes over the years, and after three years with the same old look, I decided it was time for one more. Italian Food Forever has had facelift, and I am very pleased to unveil our new look! As well as a cleaner look, I wanted a more functional blog that would be easier for me to work with, and easier for my blog visitors to navigate, so...

............................................................................................... I like to have a number of easy options available over the hoidays for guests who we invite over for a glass of holiday cheer, and find spreads and dips work perfectly. The method used to cook this liver pate, or mousse, creates a very creamy texture that is perfect for spreading onto slices of toasted bread or whole grain crackers. The spread has just a subtle liver flavor that is delicious when brandy and spices are added in, and is very similar to some liver spreads I’ve enjoyed...

............................................................................................... After Thanksgiving every year I always end up with extra fresh cranberries. I am not sure why I buy so many, whether I am worried they may disappear from the stores before I have my fill of fresh cranberries, or if I simply think we really need a double batch of cranberry sauce every year. Whatever the reason, I had two extra bags of fresh cranberries leftover yet again this year after Thanksgiving so I decided to use some of them in this simple bar cookie to freeze for the upcoming Christmas... ............................................................................................... When it comes to cookies, everyone in my family has their own personal favorites, but I personally prefer simpler cookies such as these butter cookies. I make a number of variations of these cookies during the holidays, some with finely chopped nuts, some decorated with icing, and others just left plain and cut into different shapes. These cookies I flavored with finely chopped rosemary which really adds a nice flavor. These cookies could be served with a morning cappuccino or even with a...

............................................................................................... Rigatoni Campagnolo ~ This pasta is a family favorite, first tasted at a popular Italian chain restaurant. Every time we went there, my husband would order this pasta, so I decided I needed to create my own version at home. The sauce is simply a zesty tomato based sauce to which slices of sausage, chopped onions, and roasted peppers are added. If you like your foods spicy choose a hot Italian sausage. I have also used Italian sausage made with turkey which was just as tasty. To serve, a good...

............................................................................................... I have been shopping in the winter squash section of our local grocery store this fall, trying all the new varieties they now offer and have enjoyed each and every one. Winter squash is so delicious and versatile and best of all it is very healthy for you too! For this quick and easy pasta recipe I used Blue Hubbard squash, but any semi-firm fleshed winter squash would work just as well. For this pasta, I simply cooked up sausage with garlic and fresh sage, tossed this with diced, roasted...

............................................................................................... Nocino is something we make in June in Italy, although it can be made at anytime when you can find green, unripe walnuts. Traditionally, Italians recommend the walnuts be harvested on San Giovanni which is celebrated on June 24. It really is amazing that these bitter, rather ugly walnuts turn into a delicious liqueur over time but if treated with care the results are well worth the effort. Most Italians use grain alcohol to make nocino, and then dilute it with a sugar syrup before bottling...

............................................................................................... Although this dessert recipe would probably not be found in Italy, it was inspired by the traditional Italian tiramisu, and is very tasty and easy to assemble. What I like best about this tiramisu recipe though, is that you need to make it ahead of time so it rests in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours which is great for holiday entertaining. The refrigeration time helps to set the tiramisu allowing for easy slicing, and allows the flavors to meld and develop. Unfortunately, in my rush to...

............................................................................................... This easy recipe for brussels sprouts is one we often make, both on busy mid-week nights when we are in a rush to get dinner on the table, as well as for holiday meals when we are looking for a tasty green vegetable to round out our menus. Brussels sprouts resemble little cabbages, are easy to clean, and taste delicious when roasted. Buon Appetito! Deborah Mele 2011
